Unemployed? Under-qualified? Under 25?

my life

Stop, drop and read!  This could be the opportunity you need to get you into a meaningful and well-paid career without the ‘longer-than-necessary’ learning phase.

The age old ‘Catch 22’ – you’re looking for your first job and to get it you need to have some experience – but how do you get experience if you haven’t got a job?

Being unemployed can be tiresome; weekends have little meaning, your working counterparts may either pity you or look down on you, resources are limited and it all can affect and lower our self esteem.

And while it probably seems like there are little or no options available, considering a traineeship and the possibilities it could bring, could be the answer. They are funded by the government with the aim of helping young people get valuable and real work experience, as well as developing other skills that employers are looking for like communication and teamwork.

The traineeships are tailored to a particular industry and job role therefore you will be able to decide before enrolling if this is for you.  Our current job roles include Mortgage Broker, Energy Broker, Fitness Instructor & IT Assistant.  They last for eight weeks and will teach you many things that will equip you to survive in the world of work such as professional communication skills, team participation and strengthening a positive working attitude.

Benefits of a our traineeships:

  • You’ll learn key skills that’ll realistically put you on the jobs ladder
  • You’ll gain that all important on-the-job experience
  • Work with a growing, local employer with a great reputation
  • Fantastic career development opportunities
  • Full time contract with paid leave & perks
  • Traineeship doesn’t cost anything & won’t affect any current benefits
  • Lunch and travel costs are met by the programme provider

After the traineeship you will be invited to an interview with the employer where you will be applying for an apprenticeship position, and, having sat the course you will be in good stead to be selected as a successful applicant!

So what are you waiting for?  Make that first step towards the New You and kick-start your career today!

Help Is Available for Tees Valley!

SSI - Redcar
SSI – Redcar

The desperate decline of the UK steel industry has had a devastating impact on its most involved communities.  Over 3000 job losses have delivered a further blow not even one month into 2016 and it’s not anticipated to stop there.  To put it into perspective, in 1994, 37,000 people were employed directly by the industry, however despite massively increasing productivity by more than 50%, in 2014, the UK still had just 18,000 steelworkers.  This fall is expected to continue and could reach lows of 13,000 this year.  Said to be a result of a mixture of things including cheap imports from China, crippling environmental rules and a strengthening pound, the UK Steel Industry will never be what it was.

While there is no quick fix to the problems that have gently unfolded over the last couple of decades, there is help to reform and ensure the hardest hit communities are given what they need to redevelop and continue to thrive in new directions.  Although the decline is unfortunately irreversible, there is a huge focus to help those affected, both organisations and individuals, to adapt to the changes and re-skill.

How can we help?

You may have heard about the SSI Capital Grant Scheme & SSI Supply Chain Support Scheme; these schemes are essentially providing funding to SMEs in Tees Valley to overcome the difficulties they face as a result of the closure of the Redcar steelworks.  Bellrock can deliver this support in order to safeguard jobs, seek new business opportunities and back a sustainable recovery.
